Prop trading with breakout

You’re one good trade away from a $100,000 account. Most traders don’t know this is possible. Here’s how.

Most people assume getting a six-figure trading account means one of two things: years of compounding a small one, or depositing a large one. There’s a third route that almost nobody outside prop trading talks about, and it takes exactly one trade. Here’s the whole thing, what it is, why it works, the numbers, and the honest parts.

What a funded account actually is

A prop firm gives you a trading test. You pay a one-time fee to take it — at Breakout, $330 for a $100,000 account ($313.50 with code ASTEKZ). Pass the test, and you trade their $100,000, keeping 80–90% of the profits, withdrawn whenever you want. Fail, and you’ve lost the $330. Not your savings. The fee is the entire downside.

That’s funded trading. Most of crypto still hasn’t heard of it.

Why one trade can pass it

The $100K Turbo evaluation has one target and two limits: grow the balance 9%, without losing more than 3% in a day or 3% in total. Look at those numbers as a trader: +9% before −3% is a 1:3 risk-to-reward. That’s the shape of a good trade. So one 1:3 setup, risking the full 3%, is a pass.

At most prop firms this is impossible by rule — minimum trading days, consistency rules that void a big day, a drawdown that trails your profits. Breakout has none of those. No minimum days, no consistency rule, no time limit, and a static drawdown. The one-trade pass isn’t a loophole. It’s allowed.

Sizing: leverage sets the move and the stop

Leverage doesn’t change the 9% target. It changes what price move you need and how wide your stop can be — fees included (8 bps round trip):

Leverage · Move to pass · Max stop

For BTC or ETH, 2–3x is the sweet spot: a normal day’s move passes you, and the stop is a real stop, not noise. At 10x the move is only 1%, but a 0.2% stop gets wicked before the trade works.

The detail that fails people

A stop that nets exactly −3% breaches the limit on the touch. Set net risk at 2.8–2.9%, with fees built into the stop distance. At 3x on $100K, round-trip fees are about $240 — so the stop sits at $2,760 of price loss, not $3,000. One bad fill at “exactly 3%” and the attempt ends before the trade had a chance.

The free-roll move

Once the trade is up 1.5–2%, move the stop to just above breakeven. Now the trade cannot end the evaluation. From that point you’re waiting for the 9% with zero downside — this is the moment the one-trade pass stops being a gamble and becomes a free roll.

What it looks like on the screen

$100K Turbo, 3x leverage, ETH at $4,000: a $300K position. Entry on a retest of a broken range high at $4,000. Stop at $3,963 (net −3% including fees). Target $4,123 (+9% net). ETH moves to $4,070 — you’re +1.75% — stop goes to $4,003. If $4,123 prints, you’re funded on $100,000. If the stop fills first, you’re out $330, and you decide whether to go again.

Your real odds, and the real cost

Pass rate equals your win rate on that one setup. No hidden math. From there, the expected cost to get funded is simple:

50% win rate → about 2 attempts → $660

40% → about 2.5 → $825

33% → 3 → $990

For reference, a single 1% move on the funded $100K pays you $800–$900. Even the slow path costs about one good trade’s payout. Compare that to growing $5,000 into $100,000 yourself: at a disciplined 5% a month, about five years, with your own capital at risk the entire way.

Turbo or Classic?

The one-trade pass works on both plans, but they’re different trades. The Turbo is +9% before −3%: a 1:3 with a tight stop, built for precise entries. The Classic is +12% before −6%: a 1:2 with double the room, built for swing traders who need the trade to breathe. If your winners hit target within hours, Turbo ($330). If they take days and a 0.9% stop would wick you out, Classic ($800) — a 1:2 with a 3% stop at 2x is a trade you’ll actually hold.

The honest caveats

This is a one-shot. Lose the trade and the evaluation is over. Your odds are your win rate — if you don’t know that number, you’re not running a plan, you’re guessing with a $330 ticket.

If your win rate is under 40%, split the target into three trades at 1% risk instead. Same account, more lives, higher odds.

Most attempts fail. That’s the structure: a fixed, small downside per try, a $100K account when it clicks. Plan for two attempts, not one.

Keep the passing mechanical. Once you’re funded, trade however you like — the one-trade plan is for passing, not for living.

Summary

Define the setup before you buy the eval. Wait for it. Set the stop under the limit, not on it. Move to breakeven at a third of the way. Take it once. Win, and you’re trading $100,000 of Breakout’s capital, keeping 80–90%. Lose, and the fee is all you’ve lost.

If you’re new to funded trading but always wanted a real chance at a $100K account, this is a method worth putting to the test. $330 is the cost of finding out — and the most you can lose.
